Coronation Ball

Traditions are routed deep in all Mardi Gras Krewes. For the Krewe of Selene, we follow a Coronation Ball tradition in which our Royalty for the upcoming parade day will be chosen.

Each Selene member may put their name in to be drawn as Queen. The King will be chosen from the current Dukes, also drawn at random.

It’s an exciting night for royalty as well as a great time getting together with our Selene sisters.

This event is open to the public.

2021-2022 Coronation Ball Information

Our Coronation Ball will be on December 4, 2021, at The Castine Center in Mandeville La. We moved it this year due to Covid19. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.  Music will be provided by Sugar Shaker. A  buffet will be served at the after the tableau through the night.

If you are from out of town and would like to stay at a hotel in Mandeville we have some rooms blocked at the Comfort Suites in Mandeville. We only have 25 single Kings and 30 double queens blocked until 30 days before the event. The rooms are $99 per night. The block will be released once the 30 days is up NO Exceptions… book now!!! They have not given us a code.

The coronation is BYOB, with setups provided.  Only small, collapsible ice chests will be permitted.

As in previous years, we will still enforce the following rule:

  • All monies owed to the Krewe of Selene must be paid, in full, by TBA in order to attend the Coronation Ball.  There will be no exceptions and we will NOT be taking money during coronation weekend.

Your dues include you and your escort’s admission to the ball.  Each member that will be attending the coronation must return the mailed out postcard, with the name of your escort, to the P.O. Box before November 2, 2020.  Seats will be reserved for only those members indicating they will attend.  When you return the reservation card, stating you will attend and then you do not show up to the coronation you will be assessed a $100.00 fine.

In addition, if you fail to sign in at the entry door at the coronation, we will have to assume you failed to show up and will be assessed the fine.  It is your duty to find an officer and sign in should you arrive after the doors have closed.

Again, only those members who have returned this card, confirming their attendance, will be admitted into the Coronation.  Please keep in mind that substitutions will not be permitted.  That is, should you not be able to attend and not cancel your reservation by November 4, 2019, you may not send another couple in your place.

We hope you understand our reasoning behind this “fine”.  It is to prevent the Krewe from paying for empty seats that we have guaranteed payment to the Castine and the caterer  when we could have filled them with paying guests.

Please let your float lieutenant know who you want to be seated with.

Guest tickets will be available once the cards are received. We will have limited seating due to space and we want to ensure our members and guest are able to attend prior to guests. If you have anyone interested please contact Traci Plaisance or Colleen Beyer and get your guest on the waiting list. We will take off this list in order of received until we reach capacity.

Members that owe a late fee will not be allowed to enter the ball. Please send your $50 late fee via PayPal to
